The Sign of the Cross (Paramount, 1932). Window Card (14" X 22"). In Cecil B. DeMille's Roman epic, Claudette Colbert plays the sinful and sexual Poppeae to Charles Laughton's hedonistic Nero. Fredric March (Marcus Superbus), is the prefect of Rome, and is caught between his love for a Christian woman (Elissa Landi) and a lustful relationship with Claudette Colbert. This pre-Code film has some of the most sexual and violent scenes of its day. This card has been rebacked with a heavier board and has had the borders and imprint area painted. There was a right corner off which extended into the Paramount logo. There was an evident horizontal fold before rebacking. The poster displays well. From the collection of Jim Ashton.
