The Scarlet Empress (Paramount, 1934). Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
For the first time ever, Heritage is proud to present this wildly scarce Style B one sheet for the important Josef von Sternberg and Marlene Dietrich period drama. Dietrich stars as the German Princess Sophia Frederica, who became Catherine the Great of Russia. After her arranged marriage to the mad Grand Duke Peter, played brilliantly by Sam Jaffe, Catherine chafes under the restrictions of her aristocratic duties. Wonderfully seductive, she finds time to woo several members of the Russian army, including the dashing John Lodge, as Count Alexei. Backed to thin linen, the poster received only spot touchup to the fold junctions. The linen was trimmed to the borders of the poster, and the edges show minor chipping. Overall, this exceedingly rare piece presents beautifully.
