Description

The Private Life of Henry VIII (United Artists, 1933). Insert (14" X 36").
Only a star of top caliber could aptly portray the larger than life monarch in this Alexander Korda classic, and Charles Laughton did so perfectly. The outstanding supporting cast includes Robert Donat, Merle Oberon, and Laughton's wife Elsa Lanchester. This British biopic was the first non-U.S. film to receive a Best Picture Oscar nomination and, although it did not win in that category, Laughton took home the Academy Award for Best Actor. A courtly, life size portrait of "King" Laughton graces this lovely insert, with good color and clarity. Light touch up has been applied to address pinholes in the bottom corners, and one in Henry's left cheek, fold wear, a chip in the bottom left corner, border and each left and right top corner and a chip in one of the folds. Fine+ on Paper.
