The Magnificent Ambersons (RKO, 1942). Insert (14" X 36").
Director Orson Welles followed his landmark picture Citizen Kane (1941) with this ambitious project, about the well-to-do Amberson family, portrayed by Joseph Cotten, Dolores Costello, Anne Baxter, Tim Holt, and Agnes Moorehead. Sadly, as the film went over schedule and budget, the studio took the picture back from Welles, while out of the country, and edited it unmercifully, cutting a full fifty minutes of film and adding a happy ending. This highly desirable insert has been mounted on cardstock. The borders have been airbrushed, and touchup applied to the folds and tears in the faces of Agnes Moorehead and Delores Costello. There is light creasing in the bottom section, the printer logo has been whited out. The poster has retained great color, and displays nicely. The paper backing is lifting in several places on the bottom of the poster. Fine on Paper.
