    Description

The Life of Jimmy Dolan (Warner Brothers, 1933). Fine+ on Linen. Six Sheet (75.5" X 82").
There's little paper out there for this Douglas Fairbanks Jr. picture, and the bright stone litho poster presented here is the only known six sheet still around today. It's a great chance for collectors of early cinema to own this ultra rare poster, especially those that are fans of the 1939 John Garfield remake with the Dead End Kids, They Made Me a Criminal. Fairbanks plays Jimmy Dolan, a prizefighter who mistakenly thinks he has killed a man and goes on the run from the law. He befriends Loretta Young who runs a health farm for invalid children. Despite the risks, Fairbanks decides to enter a fight contest in order to raise money for the farm, and runs into one of the amateur fighters, played by a young John Wayne. Guy Kibbee plays the persistent lawman after Fairbanks, and Mickey Rooney makes an appearance as one of the invalid kids. A Heritage first, this large-format piece has received touchup at the folds, a few horizontal tears in the interior, and creasing. Some of the creases are still visible, as well as unaddressed smudging. There was a partial trim along the borders with a strip of the original white border remaining along the image area and lower text. Fine+ on Linen.
