    Description

The Informer by Frederic C. Madan (RKO, 1935). Very Fine-. Signed Original Oil Artwork on Canvas (20" X 40") used on Three Sheet.
Heritage has the pleasure of presenting this impressive oil painting by Frederic C. Madan for the first time, truly a piece like no other. A favorite artist for RKO in the 1930s, Madan's work can be found for films such as Bird of Paradise, In Old Chicago, Cimarron, The Conquerors, and Rose of Washington Square. However, his work for The Informer is among his most expressive. Director John Ford earned an Academy Award for his work on this taut film about political unrest in Dublin during the Sinn Fein rebellion, based on the novel by Liam O'Flaherty. The picture features an impressive and talented cast, including Victor McLaglen (who would also take home an Oscar for the film), Wallace Ford, Heather Angel, Preston Foster, Margot Grahame, and Una O'Connor. Showing wear typical for its age and medium, the painting has some scuffs, especially towards the edges, and a few minute bits of chipped paint. As part of the production process there are some small tack holes in the lower image where the title and credits text were most likely attached. Very Fine-.
