    Description

    The Devil's Weed (Hallmark, 1950) AKA Wild Weed. Silk-Screen Poster (30" X 40").
In 1948, actress Lila Leeds and actor Robert Mitchum were arrested for marijuana possession. The public had sympathy for him, and he went on to a great career. Leeds, on the other hand, struggled after getting out of jail. She made only two more films before her career ended, including this film that was very loosely based on her case. Also known as Wild Weed and She Shoulda Said No, the film was a prime example of the "one hit from a reefer makes a good girl go bad" genre. Cheryl Crane, daughter of Lana Turner, in her autobiography stated that Leeds was introduced to heroin use while in jail and became a full-blown addict afterwards. By the mid-1970s she had kicked the habit and was working in a drug rehabilitation facility. The poster shows fold wear, staple holes in the right corners, some image offset, surface scuffing, and some staining and smudging. There is a crease along each border where the poster was folded back and an extra horizontal fold. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
