    Description

The Bowery (United Artists, 1933). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Posters for this early talkie drama are rare and this is only the second time Heritage has had the pleasure to offer the one sheet. Wallace Beery and George Raft star as two buddies living at the turn of the century who compete for everything in their Bowery neighborhood, including the love of Fay Wray. Beery is a saloon owner who is raising an orphan, Jackie Cooper, and dares pal Raft to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge to prove his love to Wray. In a small bit part, Lucille Ball can be seen making her film debut. This lovely stone litho poster has received professional conservation to address fold wear and separations, some tears into the interior, light border staining, and chipping in the borders. Some faint stains are still visible. There has also been airbrushing in the borders and Beery's colored outline.
