    Description

    Sweepings (RKO, 1933). Insert (14" X 36").
Lionel Barrymore is a Chicago businessman building a department store empire in the wake of the calamitous fire of 1891. Unfortunately, all four of the tycoon's children have no interest in running the business, preferring to blow their father's riches. Gregory Ratoff plays Barrymore's keen minded manager, who buys up shares of the business, averting the ruin of the company. A young Gloria Stuart also stars, who would appear over six decades later in the 1997 version of Titanic (she died in 2010 at the age of 100). From a design standpoint, the insert offered here (a Heritage first) is a standout, with its striking profile portrait of a determined Barrymore, and fine drawings of tuxedoed men and elegantly dressed women swilling champagne as they revel in the high life. For its age, the insert has survived quite well. There is a pen mark in the bottom border, small tears in the borders, creasing in the bottom and right border, and a top right corner bend. Paper from this film is seldom seen, this insert being only the second item we've presented! Rolled, Very Fine-.
