Description

Susan Lenox (Her Fall and Rise) (MGM, 1931). German A0 (37.75" X 56").
An excellent opportunity for collectors, Heritage is thrilled to offer their first ever poster from this Greta Garbo picture, especially a poster with such a beautiful illustration! Based on the eponymous novel by David Graham Phillips, Garbo stars in this Cinderella tale gone wrong with Clark Gable, in one of his very first major leading roles. Produced one year before two of her most famous roles in Mata Hari and the Oscar-winning Grand Hotel, this film cemented Garbo's continuing popularity after the star's transition into the talkies. An exquisite stone litho illustration of the film's two leads, this poster has undergone restoration to address a slight vertical crease and extra horizontal fold towards the bottom, some mild vertical tears in the upper horizontal fold, a tear from the bottom border into the background, and a vertical tear near Garbo's face. There has been touchup applied to the folds and some color touchup near "Gable" in the lower right blue background. Notable features in this lovely German poster include a Reichstag mark in the upper left corner and the gold metallic printing used in Garbo's name, which catches the eye but also shows a bit more wear than the rest of the printing. Very Fine- on Linen.
