    South Riding (United Artists, 1938). British Six Sheet (78" X 81").
    A glimpse at a pre-World War II England that was soon to cease and never return, South Riding is set in a fictitious area in Yorkshire. Ralph Richardson plays a once-wealthy estate owner, who is going broke keeping his wife, Ann Todd, in a mental hospital. His daughter is played by Glynis Johns, in her film debut. Richardson meets Edna Best, who plays the headmistress of a local school, and the two fall in love, but there is no way for them to get together permanently as long as he is married to Todd. This stone litho, country-of-origin poster is sometimes called a British twelve sheet. Touchup has been applied to the folds with small chips. Still visible wear includes a minor chip in the lower left corner, a couple creases, and toning in the borders and folds. Very Fine- on Linen.
