    Description

Society for Sale (Triangle, 1918). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. One Sheet (27.75" X 41").
William Desmond was Irish-born, and raised in New York City. He made his film debut in 1915 and soon became a star in Westerns and serials. In the drama Society for Sale (1918), he joined nineteen-year-old Gloria Swanson, who also had embarked on a screen career just a few years earlier. In 1919, Swanson signed on with Cecil B. DeMille, credited with transforming her into a provocative starlet who would go on to be nominated for Best Actress Oscars for Sadie Thompson (1928), The Trespasser (1929), and Sunset Boulevard (1950). This beautiful stone litho one sheet (a Heritage first) is in surprisingly good condition for its age, with a great image of the young Swanson. The colors are bright and the paper is white. There is light wrinkling, edge wear on the left border with tiny bits of paper loss, faint staining and smudges on the borders, and crossfolds separations.
