DescriptionShell Forty-Three (Triangle, 1916). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. Six Sheet (80" X 80").
An amazing find, this is the six sheet format from the silent film war drama Shell Forty-Three. H.B. Warner stars as a British spy sent under the guise of American war correspondent to Germany to quickly win the confidence of the military brass. Also featured, in a very early role, is future MGM star John Gilbert, who portrays an English spy. They both can be seen (Gilbert is on the far left) in this striking stone litho image that has retained impressive color. Signs of age include edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, mild creasing, and moderate tears. There are some stains, smudging, dust shadows, and chips at the edges, including some paper loss. The poster also has small pieces of archival tape on the verso of several tears. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
