Rebel Without a Cause is an iconic film not only for its powerful depiction of teenage alienation but also because of the real-life tragedies surrounding its stars. James Dean's brooding performance as Jim Stark helped cement his legendary status, especially since he passed in a car crash just weeks before the film's release. The title came from a 1944 psychology study, and while the film was not directly based on it, the name reflected the era's anxieties about juvenile delinquency. One of the most famous and powerful quotes "You're tearing me apart!" became an iconic expression of teenage anguish and helped solidify James Dean's legacy as a symbol of youthful rebellion and vulnerability. Backed to linen, touchup has addressed small splits and chips from the edges, a 2" X 5" portion of the bottom right corner has been replaced, there was touchup to small creases and minute splits in the image and the borders as well as white background areas have been airbrushed. Thanks to these efforts, the poster displays very nicely.
