Somerset Maugham's novel, Miss Sadie Thompson, this engrossing drama stars Joan Crawford as a streetwalker who ends up on Pago Pago in the South Pacific, and attracts the attention of virtually every man in the area, including a naïve sergeant (William Gargan) and a pious preacher (Walter Huston). This card reveals the core of the film, as it displays both the conflict and sexual tension between Joan Crawford and Walter Huston.
