Mutiny On The Bounty (MGM, 1935). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). Clark Gable, sans mustache, stars as Fletcher Christian, first mate of the infamous HMS Bounty. Captain William Bligh (Charles Laughton) abuses Christian and his crew, so when the captain indirectly causes the death of the ship's doctor, Christian leads the crew in a mutiny and sets the captain adrift. The film makes scant mention of Bligh and his small band of loyalists and their remarkable navigation of 4000 miles without losing a man, and historians continue to debate whether the captain and first mate were as morally polarized as Gable and Laughton make them. When this lobby card set does not highlight their confrontation, the lobby cards feature a topless (and, yes, mustacheless!) Gable. All but two cards have several pinholes, with some slight stains and dirt smudges on a few cards. One card has faded, and a couple of corners have crease marks, but otherwise, the borders are clean and the edges sharp. Very Fine-.
