    Description

Memories That Haunt (Vitagraph, 1914). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. European Poster (55" X 78.5").
This silent romantic shipwreck drama stars Earle Williams, Rose Tapley, George Stevens, Mary Maurice, and Helene Costello. The film's plot is a shipwreck that drowns hundreds, and it seems likely that the author of the screenplay drew inspiration from the sinking of the Titanic just two years before the release of this film. Heritage is offering this poster from this title for the first time, and what a fantastic entry with this dramatic stone litho image. It has text in French, German, and Italian so that it could be displayed in multiple countries. There have been partial corrections to fold wear and separation, tears, small chips, and some cut paper loss in the lower left border. Also present on the poster are unobtrusive stains and smudges, paper lifts, and an ink stamp in the top right corner. This is a magnificent and assuredly rare poster from cinema's earliest days and would be a great addition to any collection.
