Ladies They Talk About (Warner Brothers, 1933). One Sheet (27" X 41") Alberto Vargas Artwork.
Barbara Stanwyck was completely in her element in this tough-talkin', pre-Code, Warner Brothers prison drama made in the Great Depression. Shotguns, car chases, prison breakouts and violent women make this a classic of the gangster genre. And what better artist to illustrate the lovely Ms. Stanwyck than young Peruvian artist Alberto Vargas, at the start of his career? This head-turning poster with bold Art Deco typeface is one that all well conceived poster collections should feature. Restoration has addressed paper loss in the borders, and the lower corners have been replaced slightly into the image. With the exception of the tip of her toe, the image of Stanwyck was complete. The poster still showcases vibrant color, and displays beautifully. Fine- on Linen.
