    Description

Just Around the Corner (Paramount, 1921). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Very rare silent stone litho one sheet. That's lovely Sigrid Holmquist in the beautiful snow-driven scene on the poster. Paramount had just lost the best rival Mary Pickford had, pretty Marguerite Clark, to retirement, and was looking for a quick replacement. They brought Holmquist from Sweden with great to-do, even having her arrive on the boat with her new Paramount contract in her hand. This was her first film in the US, for which she received excellent reviews. But just a few years later she suffered from what industry people called "Klieg-Eyes" brought on by staring into the powerful lights used to illuminate film sets, and she retired. Starring Margaret Seddon, Lewis Sargent, Sigrid Holmquist, Eddie Phillips, Fred Thomson, Peggy Parr. Directed by Frances Marion (always Mary Pickford's first choice as scenarist). A restored poster with good color and an overall very presentable appearance. Excellent top-notch restoration has addressed signs of light handling, including fold wear and a small hole in the "A", and surface paper loss on the reverse. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine on Linen.
