Flesh and Blood (Western Pictures Exploitation Co., 1922). Title Lobby Card and Lobby Card (11" X 14"). 1922 was a transitional year for Lon Chaney. Already recognized as a gifted character actor after his performances in such films as The Miracle Man (1919), Treasure Island (1920), and his extraordinary turn as the legless Blizzard in The Penalty (1920), he was just on the verge of real feature stardom, as roles in Oliver Twist (1922), Shadows (1922), and particularly The Hunchback of Notre Dame (19230 and The Phantom of the Opera (1925) - roles that would make him a true superstar - were still in his future. Flesh and Blood was the kind of film that Chaney did best. Cast as David Webster, a man wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, he seeks revenge against the man who framed him, but finds that his daughter has fallen in love with the villain's son. As in so many of Chaney's films, he is forced to surrender his happiness in order to best serve the woman he holds in high esteem, in this case his daughter. Offered here is the title card and one scene card from this wonderful film. The title card has a top right corner bend, and had a tear in the top border, edge damage with small tears in the bottom and right borders, and chipping in the right border and right corner. The scene card had a top left corner chip, a tear in the bottom border, and a replaced lower left corner. Professional restoration has done a marvelous job of addressing these issues, returning these card to a glorious, Near Mint appearance. Fine.
