    Description

    Easy Rider (Columbia, R-1972). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Few examples exist in the poster world where a reissue poster is more highly prized than the original. This is one of those examples. In the initial 1969 campaign, the studio featured a shadowy, textured image of Peter Fonda in profile, staring off as if in a day-dream, without a motorcycle in sight, with the poster quote proclaiming "This Year It's Easy Rider." They were trying to emphasize the importance of the film and not have it initially perceived as "another biker movie." Three years later, after the roaring success of the film, they couldn't wait to show the by then famous image of Fonda and Dennis Hopper rollin' down the highway. What was fortunate for collectors and poster lovers alike is that they maintained the concept of the original poster, printing in the same soft yellow color with the same soft focus texturing. This allows the original and the reissue to be displayed side by side very effectively. In an uncommonly high grade, there are only very faint corner bends and original soft folds. Very Fine+.
