Disraeli (Warner Bros., 1929). Very Fine- on Paper. One Sheet (26.5" X 40.5"). Style B. From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Colorful with lovely stone litho printing, its Heritage's first time to offer the style B one sheet from this historical drama, adapted from Louis N. Parker's famous play. In a performance worthy of his Oscar win, George Arliss portrays the famed British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, a well practiced part for the actor as he had filled the role for several years during the original play's 1911 run, 1917 revival, and 1921 silent film adaptation. It was Arliss' sound debut as his first talkie, pushing the release date of The Green Goddess back as he felt Disraeli was a stronger vocal performance. As with all of his previous portrayals, Arliss was joined by his real-life wife, Florence Arliss, in the role of Lady Beaconsfield, Disraeli's wife. Professional touchup has corrected slight fold wear and separation, small tears, pinholes, and a minor chip in the upper right corner. The paper has been trimmed to the borders, but not into the poster, leaving its's wonderful image intact.
