    Description

    Dante's Mysteries (Svensk Filmindustri, 1931). Swedish Poster (27.5" X 39").
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1883, Harry August Jansen would eventually move to the United States, and soon become known throughout the world as Dante the Magician, working in vaudeville, burlesque, legitimate theatre, films, and in later years, television. His signature stage move was to utter three nonsense words: "Sim Sala Bim" (taken from the lyrics of a Danish children's song) during his performances to acknowledge applause. He can be seen using these words in this Swedish 1931 feature, Dantes Mysterier (Dante's Mysteries) and in the 1942 Laurel and Hardy comedy A-Haunting We Will Go. Incredible color saturation and devilish images fill this delightful original release Swedish poster that is also finely preserved. Only light bottom and right edge wear and a tear in the top border into the background with tape on the verso can be detected. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
