    Citizen Kane (RKO, 1941). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
Commanding and aloof, Orson Welles (as Charles Foster Kane) stands above scenes from the early part of Kane's life, including him as a boy holding his cherished sled "Rosebud." Citizen Kane came very near to never even being released, due to the opposition of William Randolph Hearst, whose life he was sure the film was portraying. Shunned by many theaters fearful of Hearst's power, the film had an initial poor showing at the box office and garnered very few nominations at the Academy Awards. Subsequent reissues and revivals restored the film's reputation, and it has now been acclaimed as one of the finest pictures ever made. Posters from this iconic American classic have always been in high demand, including this style A one sheet. The borders have been replaced as well as missing paper that extends into the background, and touchup applied to vertical tears and chips in the title box, fold wear, vertical tears in the bottom left and right background, and small tears in Welles' neck. The restoration was expertly performed, resulting in a poster that is beautifully display-ready. Good/Very Good on Linen.
