Description

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (MGM, 1958). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
An electrifying and engaging adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play, this psychological drama features a star-studded cast. Big Daddy (Burl Ives), wealthy patriarch of the Southern Pollitt clan, is dying of cancer. His several children are not so discreetly coveting their future inheritance, and the expected drama unfolds between family members. Big Daddy's favorite son, Brick (Paul Newman), drinks his days away and resents his wife Maggie (Elizabeth Taylor) for allegedly having an affair with his recently deceased "best friend." Although the couple has yet to produce the all-important grandchild, Maggie attempts to keep them in line for Big Daddy's estate by telling him she is pregnant. Artist Reynold Brown took time away from his sci-fi/horror illustrations to give us a delicate, yet fierce, "Maggie the Cat" on this ever-popular half sheet. Light edge staining, a smudge in the bottom left, and light fold wear do not detract from the exceptional display quality of this half sheet. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
