Description

Blonde Venus (Paramount, 1932). French Grande (44.5" X 60.5") C. Venabert Artwork.
As radiant as ever, Marlene Dietrich plays a German cabaret singer living in America when her husband (Herbert Marshall) falls gravely ill. His only hope is an expensive medical treatment, forcing Dietrich to take on a job at a nightclub to earn extra money. There she meets Cary Grant, a wealthy playboy willing to give her the money, but only if she will consort with him. As her ailing husband regains his health, relations become complicated between Dietrich and the two men in her life. Directed by Josef von Sternberg, the film is considered by many to be Dietrich's best, and it features the enchantress in some of her most well-known musical numbers. Showcasing a brilliant stone litho image by C. Venabert, there has been touchup to fold wear, pinholes, and small border tears and chips. There was a sliver of paper loss along most of the the top edge of the poster with a replaced chip in the upper left corner. Minor touchup has also been applied to a few spots in the faces, including a tear in Marlene Dietrich's image. The borders and credits have been airbrushed. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
