DescriptionDracula (Universal, 1931). Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5") Eric Rohman Artwork.
With the incredible success of both The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera, Universal magnate Carl Laemmle Jr. set his studio on a course that would make his father's company famous: that of producing the most important and significant horror films in the history of cinema. After auditioning several actors, the studio settled on the Hungarian transplant who made the role famous on the Broadway stage, Bela Lugosi. Famed Swedish artist Eric Rohman provides a striking illustration on this Heritage first, a work of bold contrast that pops from its black background. It's difficult to believe that this poster is almost ninety years old, as it shows only the slightest signs of wear with couple of light corner creases and a small tear in the right border. Folded, Very Fine/Near Mint.
Estimate: $8,000 - $16,000.
