    Description

Ways to Strength and Beauty (UFA, 1925). Fine/Very Fine. German Program (48 Pages, 7" X 10").
A 7-reel documentary, using newsreel footage and newly shot footage of nude men and women, the film was ostensibly a paean to the physical-culture movement in Europe. This proto-Nazi film was highly popular in its day, and much of its popularity can be attributed to its several scenes of nudity. Directed by Wilhelm Prager, the film was the screen debut of German filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, who dances in the nude, and has long been seen as a precursor of Riefenstahl's Olympia (her brilliant film of the 1936 Olympic Games). Numerous athletes and other famous people of the day make appearances in the picture, such as Babe Ruth, Johnny Weissmuller, Jack Dempsey, Josephine Baker, and even Benito Mussolini. A Heritage first, there are few issues to be found in the interior pages of this country of origin program, while the covers show mild edge and spine wear, smudges, and some stains. The photo inset on the front cover has creasing, minor paper lifts, and rippling. Fine/Very Fine.
