Siege of Leningrad (Artkino, 1943). Fine+. Color Glos Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
Prominent U.S. politician and one time presidential candidate Wendell Wilkie brought this Russian documentary to the states in an effort to share the plight of the citizens of the blockaded city of Leningrad (now known as Saint Petersburg). Narrated by journalist Edward R. Murrow with a script written by London columnist John Gordon and filmed by 28 cameramen, the film details not just the hardships faced by the besieged citizens, but also the stoic courage they display in the face of rampant death and starvation. With only limited showings in the U.S., any paper from the picture is beyond rare, and this color glos lobby set is in fact the only item Heritage has ever offered from the film. General indications of usage include edge wear, creases, pinholes, and small tears. Also visible are some paper lifts, mild surface rippling, smudging, and staining. A few of the cards have minor chips, as well as pieces of paper tape on the verso. From the Theaters of Old Detroit Collection. Fine+.
