DescriptionRudolph Valentino and his Eighty Eight Prize-Winning American Beauties (1923). Good+ on Linen. Three Sheet (42" X 78.25").
A dispute with Paramount Pictures in 1923 resulted in an injunction that prohibited Rudolph Valentino from making films with other producers. Valentino set off on a national dance tour sponsored by Mineralava Cosmetics to ensure his name would remain in the public eye. One of his contractual obligations to the cosmetic company required him to judge a beauty contest, hence this short film about the beauty contest after each performance. This is the only copy of this rare three sheet we are aware of and Heritage's first-time offer. The poster has significant chipping in the lower panel containing the ladies' faces, though most of the ladies' faces were spared. There was fold separation and much border chipping. The poster now displays very well.
Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
