Description

Dillinger: Public Enemy No.1 (Midland Film Co., 1934). Very Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (28.5" X 40.75").
After public outcry that the government's shooting a man in the back while leaving a movie theater was cowardly, J. Edgar Hoover commissioned this propagandic newsreel to make the FBI's killing of John Dillinger more heroic. This rare poster was part of a four-wall campaign by the makers, to be distributed independently around the country. It is more than likely that the film received a limited release, thus the scarcity of these posters! This vibrant one sheet features a terrific image of the Depression-era bank robber. Restoration has addressed fold wear and a few small spots on the borders. It displays beautifully.
