Description

    Dirty Harry (Warner Brothers, 1971). Standee (37.75" X 56.75) .
From December 1968 to October 1969, San Francisco and her surrounding cities were terrorized by a serial killer known as " the Zodiac" who was never captured. With those murders fresh on the publics mind, the script for Dirty Harry was created, substituting "the Zodiac Killer" for the fictional "Scorpio Killer." The casting took a brilliant turn by placing Andy Robinson, the son of Little Caesar himself, Edward G. Robinson, into the role of the psychotic killer. Clint Eastwood, who had garnered world-wide acclaim in a series of Westerns for Sergio Leone was cast as the equally psychotic detective who had the "dirty" job of tracking the killer down. The film was a smash sensation and went on to become one of the icons of 1970s cinema; recognized by the American Film Institute as well as weaving it's way into the American psyche with lines like, "Do you feel lucky, punk?" This standee is from the film's original release and features a psychedelic image of Eastwood firing his .45 automatic. Most theatres never ordered the standees making them terribly difficult to find and when they are found, they are usually in poor and battered condition. This one has had some retouch to some surface rubbing within the image area. In addition, there is some edge wear and slight bumps to the die-cut corners as well as the replacement of the easel on back. The film would go on to inspire a cinematic franchise that to this day has legions of fans. Fine+.
