    Description

Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild's Revenge (UFA, 1924). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. German Poster (46.75" X 56") Fritz Weber Artwork.
Drawing his inspiration from the famed 13th century epic poem, Fritz Lang took one of the greatest literary sagas in history and transformed it into a lavish spectacle of the silent screen. Bearing the beginning marks of Lang's German Expressionist aesthetic, his two-part retelling of the story is a sumptuous affair rich with both detailed costumes, impressive battle scenes, and, best of all, wonderfully expressive acting. In this second part of the historic tale, Margarete Schön gives a fantastic performance as the grief-stricken Kriemhild, hellbent on avenging the murder of her husband and willing to sacrifice anything in pursuit of her goal. Though we have offered a few pieces from the first part of Lang's saga, this is the first time Heritage has ever had the opportunity to present paper from the film's second chapter. Hailing from its country of origin and bearing incredible stone litho artwork by Fritz Weber, the poster shows slight edge and fold wear, mild fold separations, pinholes, and a couple of creases. There are a few small tears, unobtrusive stains, as well as some toning in the borders and folds. The bottom border has a tear with a couple of small pieces of archival tape on the verso. There is an ink stamp with a small amount of inked writing in the top right corner, dated as April 14th, 1924, twelve days before the movie's German premiere. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
