    Description

Dial M for Murder (Warner Brothers, 1954). One Sheet (27" X 41"). From the Leonard and Alice Maltin Collection.
Although Grace Kelly had appeared in numerous television programs and supporting roles in a couple of movies, it wasn't until she was "discovered" by Alfred Hitchcock that she became a major star. Of the three films she made for the Master of Suspense, this was considered her best role-- that of a wealthy wife of a retired tennis pro. When the husband finds out his wife has had an affair, he plots to have her murdered. Hitchcock knew the part called for a woman who could radiate charm, elegance and sophistication and Grace Kelly embodied all of these attributes like no other. The film was available in 3D, but since so few theatres booked it this way, Warner Brothers didn't make any posters that advertised the effect. This one sheet has six pinholes within the background and has a slight bit of paper loss at the lower center-point. Otherwise, the colors are brilliant and the poster is one of the best from Hitchcock in his prime. From the Leonard and Alice Maltin Collection. Very Fine.
