Description

Death Takes a Holiday (Paramount, 1934). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Frederic March stars as the Grim Reaper and decides to take on human form and spend some time amongst mortals to discover why they fear him. He vacations for a few days as the house guest of Duke Lambert. During this time, despite disasters and accidents, no one dies anywhere on earth. The Reaper (March) falls in love with Grazia (Evelyn Venable), who in turn falls for him and decides to sacrifice her own humanity for love. This is a lovely half sheet. Though it has never been folded it appears to have been bent at one time, causing a slight crease down one side. There are some corner crimps and wrinkling around the edges, as well as some light dimples and scratches, but these are not very noticeable. The poster was paper backed and it looks tremendous. The main image portion is magnificent, with its soft tones and deep, unadulterated blacks. The overall effect is rich and crisp. This is a captivating and beautiful piece. Paper from this title is very difficult to find, making this a real treasure. Very Fine on Paper.
