Curry vs. Lunceford (c.1940s). Rolled, Fine/Very Fine. Stock Concert Poster (28" X 42"). Musical.
Offered in this lot is a stock concert poster advertising for Edith Curry, Joan Lunceford, and their respective orchestras, in a battle of the bands during the height of their careers in the 1940s. Set to play against each other, the two African American swing stars brought in outstanding reviews from publications of their time, including The Afro American and Amsterdam News, making this poster a fantastic representation of female-led swing culture. An unrestored poster that displays signs of use. May include light edge wear, mild creases, a minor chip, small tears, or unobtrusive stains/smudges. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
