    Description

The Petrified Forest (Warner Brothers, 1936). Fine+. Trimmed Midget Window Card (8" X 12.25").
It was the film that would launch the career of one of the greatest actors in the history of Hollywood. But at the time, Humphrey Bogart was known as a bit part player, a man who cast Hollywood aside for legitimate acting on New York's Broadway stage. Warner Brothers bought the rights to Robert Sherwood's play The Petrified Forest and wanted Leslie Howard to reprise his role as the lead actor. Howard had one condition. Before he would accept the studio's offer, he demanded that Humphrey Bogart reprise his role as Duke Mantee the fugitive gangster on the run from the law. Warners put up a fight, wanting Edward G. Robinson for the role, but Howard wouldn't hear of it. The studio relented and the rest was history, as Bogart's performance would dominate the screen. A Heritage first, the card has slight corner bumps, minor tears, and a trimmed imprint area. Fine+.
