The Girl in 419 (Paramount, 1933). Keybook Portrait and Scene Photos (119) (8" X 11") in Original Keybook Binder. Working Title: Dead on Arrival. Crime.
Vintage gelatin silver, double weight, black and white, glossy keybook photos. You often see us noting that certain photos are "keybook photos," but how often do you see an actual keybook offered? The majority of keybooks were dismantled years ago by the studios, dealers and collectors. This is a very rare example of a pre-code keybook for a 1933 film with the working title still on many of the photos, "Dead on Arrival." You can virtually reconstruct most of the film with the 119 different portraits and scenes offered here. There are great near mint pre-code portrait and key scene photos of David Manners (Dracula), Gloria Stuart (The Old Dark House, The Invisible Man, and "Old Rose" from The Titanic, James Dunn (Shirley Temple's co-star in her first three films, and Oscar Winner in 1945 for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), and all the co-stars. Starring James Dunn, Gloria Stuart, David Manners, William Harrigan, Shirley Grey, Jack La Rue. Directed by Alexander Hall and George Somnes. Unrestored photos with bright color and a clean overall appearance. The overall condition of the photos is excellent. Just a few have edge wear, small stains, and surface wrinkles and light checking. There are only two that have tears in the left border, and a number have minor corner bumps. The keybook even retains the original Paramount i.d. tag with the production # and both working titles handwritten. Don't miss this chance at a real rarity in the world of film photos. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. The overall grade of the photos is Very Fine+.
