    Description

    Taxi (Warner Brothers, 1932). Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14").
James Cagney's rise to stardom gained enormous momentum with this huge box-office success. Cagney is Matt Nolan, a gritty New York City cab driver who is being squeezed by a monopolistic taxi trust, which uses force to run him and other independent cabbies away from profitable locations. These gorgeous lobby cards feature Cagney and co-star Loretta Young, and restoration has addressed minor signs of handling. The portrait card had a tear through Young's arm and a dime size hole to the left of Cagney's head, and small chips in the top border that extended into the credits. On the taxi card, a vertical tear extending into the artwork can be detected. The two cards now display beautifully. Very Good/Fine.
