    Description

    Racketeers in Exile (Columbia, 1937). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
Known as one of the top celebrities of the silver screen in the 1920s, George Bancroft stars as an unscrupulous kingpin-in-hiding trying to cash in on the naivete and religious fervor of his home town. Evelyn Venable, the face of the Columbia Pictures logo and eventual voice actress for the Blue Fairy in Disney's Pinocchio, costars as the beautiful paragon of virtue that charms Bancroft away from his crooked ambitions and seedy way of life. Art Deco angles and daring colors abound in this design, giving this poster a dramatic look perfectly befitting a gangster movie. The linen backing has been trimmed to the poster, and there is some edge wear with small tears, minor tears in the vertical fold, touchup to the folds, fold separations, a few pinholes in the title, an extra horizontal crease near the upper border, two small chips in the lower and left borders, surface scratches in Wynne Gibson's credit, and the poster is beginning to lift from the linen in some places. Fine- on Linen.
