Description

Bordertown (Warner Brothers, 1935). Italian 4 - Fogli (54.5" X 77.5") Luigi Martinati Art.
With her star on the rise after her breakaway performance in Of Human Bondage, Bette Davis plays opposite of Paul Muni in this thrilling crime drama centered in a tangled web of obsession, madness, and murder. Both Muni and Davis gave emotional performances worthy of critical praise, Davis in particular is hailed for her realistic portrayal of a woman with a increasingly deteriorating mental state, drawing personal reference from her own sister's psychological disorder. Based closely off of the moody graphics of the mesmerizing U.S. one sheet, Luigi Martinati takes a more sultry turn with Bette Davis' unbalanced vixen, using sizzling colors far more vibrant than its American counterpart. Offered for the first time by Heritage, this eye-catching Italian poster has had minor touchup to the folds and pinholes in the borders and image area. A sliver of paper loss under the "uni" of Paul Muni's credit has been addressed, although there is a tape stain still visible. There are stains in the bottom border and fold lines that are still visible, as well as smudging in the borders and background. There is also some vertical creasing, one tear in the top border, and faint bleedthrough in the background that have not been addressed. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
