    Description

    Cover Girl (Columbia, 1948). First Post-War Release Italian 2 - Fogli (39" X 55") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
Collectors never tire of the blithe, breezy Rita Hayworth found on this film's posters, especially when she's drawn by one of the foremost poster designers in the hobby, Anselmo Ballester. The equally adored Gene Kelly can also be seen at the bottom of the image, acting as Hayworth's co-star in this comedy/musical from director Charles Vidor. Hayworth plays Rusty Parker, a woman whose ambition is to become a Broadway star. To achieve her goal, she has to leave the small dinner theater where she works and her true love, Danny McGuire, played by Kelly. At the time she made this film, Hayworth was still primarily seen as a singing and dancing star. It wouldn't be long, however, before her talent for portraying femme fatales would become obvious in such classics as Gilda (1946), and The Lady from Shanghai (1947). It's Heritage's first time to present what is possibly the most beautiful poster ever created for the title, which has edge wear with small tears, fold wear with nicks, and pinholes into the interior. There is a chip with a splice in the bottom border, a tear into Hayworth's abdomen, and pieces of paper tape on the verso at some of the folds and tears. Folded, Fine+.
