    Description

    Convict 13 (Metro, 1920). One Sheet (28" X 41").
This incredibly rare one sheet features a young Buster Keaton in only his second leading role for a comedic short. Following a series of popular two-reelers costarring with Fatty Arbuckle, Keaton continued climbing higher up the Hollywood ladder by taking the reins as a writer and director in his own films. Joseph M. Schenck had so much faith in the young comedian, that he gave Keaton his own production unit and team of writers, appropriately called Buster Keaton Comedies. This complete control over creative direction enabled The Great Stone Face to make some of the finest silent comedies the world has ever seen, and gags the likes of which we may never see again. This wonderful stone litho poster has undergone conservation to address chipping and tearing in the interior, and had touchup applied to boost the color. The borders have been replaced with the exception of some original paper in the bottom and left sides. There was paper loss in the bottom corners extending into the black background and title area, but it has been skillfully recreated with restoration. Good/Very Good on Linen.
