Description
Invasion of the Saucer-Men (American International, 1957). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Three Sheet (41.25" X 78.5"). Albert Kallis Artwork. One of the most delightfully imaginative science fiction films of the 1950s, Invasion of the Saucer-Men epitomizes the atomic-age creature feature at its most entertaining. Directed by Edward L. Cahn for American International Pictures and adapted from Paul W. Fairman's story "The Cosmic Frame," the film follows two teenagers who stumble upon a crashed flying saucer and its pint-sized extraterrestrial occupants. Possessing grotesquely oversized craniums, bulbous, veined eyes, and needle-like fingers that inject intoxicating venom into their victims, the alien invaders rank among the most memorable monster creations of the decade. Blending horror, science fiction, and sly humor, the film has earned enduring cult status as one of AIP's signature productions. This spectacular three sheet, illustrated by Albert Kallis, is dominated by one of the great monsters of 1950s poster art—a gargantuan saucer-man whose bulbous, otherworldly visage looms over the composition while cradling a helpless heroine. Rendered in Kallis's bold, richly painted style, the exaggerated scale and lurid palette create a wonderfully surreal vision that far surpasses the modestly budgeted film itself, securing the poster's place among the enduring masterpieces of science fiction advertising. Fine/Very Fine, with fold wear with minor chips, crossfold separation with spot paper loss, edge wear with chips and tears, and pinholes.
