Description

Forbidden Planet (MGM, 1956). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (26.75" X 41.25").
A landmark of 1950s science fiction, this lavish MGM outer-space adventure drew inspiration from Shakespeare's The Tempest while showcasing the studio's full production capabilities through innovative special effects, sleek futuristic costumes and props, and cinema's first fully electronic musical score. Alongside Anne Francis, ray guns, a star-bound spaceship, and the terrifying monster born from the villain's Id, the film introduced audiences to Robby the Robot — one of the genre's most enduring creations, later appearing in The Invisible Boy and memorable episodes of The Twilight Zone — and its iconic one sheet remains among the most sought-after sci-fi posters in the hobby. Backed to linen, touchup has been applied carefully and sparingly to correct fold wear, minor fold and crossfold separation, and a few exacerbated pinholes. Additionally, the linen has been trimmed to the borders and other tiny pinholes, light smudges, and miniscule stains unobtrusively remain.
