Description
The Three Stooges: Cookoo Cavaliers (Columbia, 1940). Overall: Fine+. Lobby Card Printer's Negatives Set of 4 (Approx. 10.5" X 13.5").Released in 1940 during the Three Stooges' immensely popular Columbia Pictures run, Cookoo Cavaliers finds Curly, Larry, and Moe in peak slapstick form, delivering the fast-paced physical comedy and perfectly timed chaos that made them one of Hollywood's most beloved comedy teams. This rare set of four original lobby card printer's negatives—the photographic production negatives used by commercial printers to create the lobby cards displayed in theaters—provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship behind Golden Age film advertising. Preserving the original production images for the short's theatrical campaign, these negatives are scarce artifacts that celebrate both the enduring appeal of the Stooges and the artistry of classic movie promotion. They exhibit edge and corner wear, smudges and scuffs, light creases and dimpling, some stains and painting, strips of paper and cellophane tape, a few tears, and chips and trimming to the borders.
