Offered here is a limited edition promotional poster for the book The Paperback Covers of Robert McGinnis by Art Scott and Dr. Wallace Maynard, released by Pond Press in 2001. The poster features the painting The Private Practice of Michael Shayne, originally created for the detective pulp novel written by Brett Halliday. This limited edition piece is signed by the legendary artist, known for his illustrations for Breakfast at Tiffany's, Barbarella, and, of course, the James Bond series. The book itself serves as a complete listing of the paperback editions illustrated by McGinnis.
Alternative Movie Posters have grown their base of artists, fans, and galleries exponentially for close to two decades, expanding the poster hobby beyond mass-produced studio issued paper to these high-quality, limited-edition prints. The exclusive giclée and silkscreen offerings are part pop culture, part fine art, illustrating myriad unique reimagining's of cult, classic, and contemporary cinema created by some of the most renowned commercial and comic art illustrators of the day. Due to the rare nature and limited qualities of these prints, they come and go in flashes, most never to be printed again. Typically, they make their debuts at collaborating galleries, via private commission, or exclusive fan events such as the San Diego and New York Comic Cons. This limited run poster was released by Pond Press in 2001, and is hand signed and numbered 168/300. The print only exhibits the most minimal signs of handling from shipping and storage. An unrestored poster with bright color and a clean overall appearance. It may have general signs of use, such as minimal edge wear, subtle dimpling, minor creases, faint scuffs, and a few light smudges.
