DescriptionThe Philadelphia Story (MGM, 1940). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style C.
based on the popular Broadway play of the same name, The Philadelphia Story won two Academy Awards in 1941, one for Best Writing and one for Best Actor for James Stewart's lead performance. This lovely poster places Katharine Hepburn, who also starred in the stage production, in the center of the on-screen love triangle between Stewart and Cary Grant. The poster is backed on linen and touchup has been applied to creases, fold wear, and a few small chips, but no further restoration has been attempted. Still visible are pinholes, nicks, and a few moderate tears. Also apparent is some subtle toning, smudges, scuffs, and light stains.
Estimate: $4,000 - $8,000.
