    Description

The Paleface (First National, 1922). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
This best scene card from the lobby set for one of Buster Keaton's funniest shorts has him just having been made "Little Chief Paleface" by the tribe. Joe Roberts, an old vaudevillian and Keaton family friend, who appeared in sixteen of Keaton's nineteen comedy shorts, looks off to the right for the evil oil barons stealing their land, while Keaton looks to the left. Buster has tried to achieve the perfect "Indian" look to blend in with the tribe. In true Keaton fashion, that would naturally be made up of his classic Porkpie hat with a feather stuck in it (personally cut down by Keaton from a Stetson and soaked in warm sugar water), a hotel towel, a Coney Island swim suit, and wool socks with garters! A great signature moment from the silent era. There are only image, border and corner pinholes, and a small nick in the left edge. Fine/Very Fine.
