Description
The Lady Eve (Paramount, 1941). One Sheet (27" X 41").Romance meets screwball in this Preston Sturges comedy, telling the tale of a cunning con artist and the poor, but rich, dope she intends to fleece. Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda, both recently nominated for Academy Awards in leading roles, prove to be just as skilled at the comedic as they are the dramatic, embracing the rapid-fire stream of jokes and gags with an effusive enthusiasm that spills straight from the screen into the audience. Based off of the short story Two Bad Hats, Sturges' adaptation struck just the right balance between quick witted satire and perfectly timed slapstick, resulting in an Oscar nomination in Best Writing: Original Story for author Monckton Hoffe. One sheets for this title are a scarce sight, and Heritage has only offered this one sheet once before. This copy is in great shape with light touchup applied to the folds, and a very small chip in the upper crossfold in Barbara Stanwyck's image. Very Fine+ on Linen.
